The Koganecho Gesture (TKG) is a video essay made in quarantine for The Koganecho Bazaar 2020 (KB2020). It is based on recollections of conversations I had with others about art and art-making over the years.

TKG is a continuation of my previous work in another Japanese artist residency. And further develop ideas on storytelling with writing, moving images, and sound. Like so many art projects in 2020, KG was made in isolation and online. And uses video and sounds found on the internet.

In response to KB2020's theme on artists and community, an open call for a video essay collaboration is weaved into TKG. An entry by a tour guide was selected which resulted in a video essay titled CITIZEN.
